The specialist noted that avocados can grow up to 20 meters tall in the wild. Therefore, it is definitely not worth growing it in a miniature pot at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The container should be deep. By the second year of growth, the avocado will already have a root system up to one meter long,” notes Anna Pashkevich.<\/p>\n\n\n

How to Plant an Avocado Seed Properly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Place the pit with the blunt end about three centimeters into the soil. Most of the pit should remain exposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first shoots will appear in just 2-3 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Sprout the avocado seed.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Take the avocado pit and stick three toothpicks into it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make sure they are roughly in the middle and spaced evenly. The toothpicks should be strong and uniform, as they will allow the core to remain suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then place the avocado pit in a cup of water so that its round end is 2 cm submerged in water. Use toothpicks as shown in the image above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allow the seeds to soak for two to six weeks in a warm place away from direct sunlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For good drainage, you can use a clay pot with a hole in the bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep the soil moist but not soggy, and water the rocks generously and regularly. If the leaves start to turn yellow or wilt, let the hole dry out a bit, then continue watering in smaller amounts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the leaves are turning brown and drying out, you are probably not watering your avocado enough. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Place the pot in a container and water it until the container is full, then leave it there for at least a quarter of an hour to make sure the plant is completely drained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continue to water your avocado tree and you will notice fruits starting to form, although it will take time.<\/p>\n\n\n

How to care for avocado<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you encounter yellowing leaves, it means you are not caring for the plant properly. It is possible that there are no drainage holes in the container with soil. Another option is rare watering or over-watering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Another point: avocados need a lot of light. Therefore, it is worth finding the most illuminated area in the house,” notes a researcher at the Institute of Vegetable Growing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t forget to spray the tree with water every other day. And when the avocado grows and has at least 15 large leaves, don’t forget to pinch the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
