However, over time, they can begin to lose strength: the stems lengthen, the leaves turn yellow, and flowering stops. If your geranium seems weak and withered, don&#8217;t give up. With a little care and patience, it&#8217;s possible to restore its splendor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Other and rejuvenate your geranium<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pruning is the key to awakening the plant and stimulating the growth of new shoots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>When to do it:<\/strong>\u00a0between January and March, just after flowering.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>How to do it correctly:<\/strong>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remove weak and overly long stems, leaving only the strongest ones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep at least 4 or 5 nodes on each stem; new branches will sprout from there.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apply a little cinnamon to cuts to prevent infection and speed healing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce watering until you see new shoot growth.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the plant is too stretched out, don&#8217;t hesitate to cut it almost to the base: lateral stems will emerge from there, giving it more volume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Propagating geraniums with cuttings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An excellent way to not only save your plant, but also multiply it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>How to prepare the cuttings:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose healthy shoots about 6 to 7 cm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove the lower leaves and leave only 2 or 3 at the top.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seal the cut with cinnamon to prevent fungus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>How to root them:<\/strong>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plant the cuttings in a loose, well-drained substrate (you can add vermiculite).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to speed up the process, use a natural rooting agent such as succinic acid or a commercial rooting agent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water lightly with warm water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cover with a bag or glass jar to create a greenhouse effect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Air it out occasionally and in 2 or 3 weeks you will see new roots.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can also root the cuttings in water, adding a piece of activated charcoal to keep it clean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stage 3: Nourish to strengthen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once your geranium starts to sprout, it&#8217;s time to give it some extra energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>First fertilization:<\/strong>\u00a0Use a nitrogen-rich fertilizer to stimulate growth.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mix 1 teaspoon of ammonia in 1 liter of water and water directly into the base.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Second fertilization:<\/strong>\u00a0strengthens the plant with succinic acid, which improves its natural defenses.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dissolve 2 tablets in 1 liter of water and spray the leaves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avoid fertilizing during the winter, when the plant is dormant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Care tips to keep them healthy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Light:<\/strong>\u00a0They need plenty of light, but not direct sunlight during the most intense hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Watering:<\/strong>\u00a0twice a week in summer; every 10 to 14 days in winter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Substrate:<\/strong>\u00a0light mix with good drainage (soil, sand and compost).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Temperature:<\/strong>\u00a0Ideally between 18 and 22\u00b0C; in winter it tolerates temperatures down to 10-15\u00b0C.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transplant:<\/strong>\u00a0every 2 or 3 years, or when the roots fill the pot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To revive a withered and weak geranium, all you need to do is prune it properly, propagate it by cuttings, and feed it with the right fertilizers.
