Great holiday snack

Many housewives pickle tomatoes, cucumbers and mushrooms for the winter, but they rarely cook pickled fruits and berries. But this is a great idea!

Step by step recipe

For the recipe I use 1.5 kg of ripe, white grapes.

You can pickle any variety of grapes and color, both whole bunches and individual berries. It is advisable to use seedless grapes, but seeds with seeds are also suitable.

Preparing the marinade

Set the grapes aside for now and begin preparing the marinade. For 4 cans of 650 ml you need:

150 g sugar

1 liter of water

1/3 tsp. year

Mix all this and bring to a boil.

Preparing the grapes

Now let’s take care of the grapes: separate the berries from the bunches, remove the stems and all damaged berries. Wash the grapes thoroughly.

Seasonings and filling

At the bottom of each 650 ml jar we place:

piece of cinnamon

2 clove buds each

2 peas of allspice

1/2 tsp each pink pepper (if available)

Fill the jars with grapes to the top, pour boiling syrup, cover with lids and leave for 20-30 minutes.

After half an hour, pour the syrup back into the pan and add vinegar. If you have homemade apple or wine vinegar, you will need 80 ml, if table vinegar is 9% – 45 ml, and if store-bought 6% – 70 ml. We also add 50-70 ml of water to boil.

Final stage

Bring the marinade to a boil and pour it into the jars right up to the neck. We roll up the jars, turn them over onto the lids and wrap them up until the morning. There is enough marinade for 4 650 ml jars.

Quick marinating method

Grapes can also be prepared in a quick way: place the bunches or berries in a bowl, pour boiling marinade over them, cool at room temperature and put in the refrigerator. In 3-4 days the grapes will be ready.

The versatility of pickled grapes

White and black grapes can be pickled together – the white berries will acquire a pinkish tint.
