Assorted fruits and berries with mint and lemon

Today I will share one of the ways to prepare aromatic fruit and berry compote for the winter. Strawberries and cherries on their own create a wonderful duo for a delicious compote, but adding a slice of lemon and fragrant mint makes the drink not only refreshing, but also healthy.

Step by step recipe:

For example, I will prepare two 3-liter jars of compote. Let’s start with syrup – we will need water – 5 liters and sugar 2 cups.

The amount of sugar can be adjusted to taste, depending on the acidity of the berries. I usually use 200 to 300 g of sugar per three-liter jar. Mix well, put the pan on the fire and bring the syrup to a boil. While the syrup is preparing, let’s start filling the jars.

I have cherries – 600 g and strawberries – 400 g, also mint – two sprigs and lemon slices.

We put all the ingredients in jars: 4 thin half-circles of lemon (preferably thin-skinned), about 300 g of cherries and 200 g of strawberries in each jar. Add a sprig of mint, previously thoroughly washed.

Fill the jars with boiling syrup.

Do this carefully, gradually warming the jar so that it does not crack. Pour the syrup to the very top and seal it tightly with sterilized lids. Beforehand, wash the jars thoroughly and rinse them well without sterilizing them.

I know that many people pour boiling syrup twice, sterilize or boil the fruit before pouring, but I prefer a simplified method: clean berries, boiling syrup and rolling!

The most important thing after rolling is to turn the jars over onto the lid and wrap them until they cool completely. Usually it takes a day, sometimes two. This compote is perfectly stored both in a cool place and at room temperature.

Using this recipe, you can prepare compote separately from strawberries or cherries, or, like me, create an assortment of fruits and enjoy its taste and aroma in winter!

I recommend trying it!

Today I will share one of the ways to prepare aromatic fruit and berry compote for the winter.
