Place boxes and sacks filled with tubers 20 cm above the floor.

If you keep potato boxes on the balcony, don’t place them on the floor! Use a stand underneath them.

To keep potatoes from sprouting and spoiling for as long as possible while storing them at home, use a trick invented by experienced home cooks. Keep your potato reserves together with sour apples.

Place a couple of large potatoes in the container where you store the tubers. They will slow down the sprouting process, thereby improving their shelf life.

If you leave a few apples with the potatoes, the tubers will not sprout even in warmth!

By the way, you can substitute apples with citrus fruits. Lemons are the best choice. One lemon, if it’s large enough, will be enough to protect 50 kg of potatoes from sprouting prematurely.

Lemon works even better than apples to increase the rarity of tubers!

Before placing the citrus fruit in a bag or box with the potatoes, make several deep cuts or punctures in it with a toothpick.

To prevent tubers from spoiling and rotting for a long time in an apartment, they should be sorted from time to time.

Before storing potatoes, you should make sure that no spoiled, rotten or damaged vegetables are included in the container.

Store potatoes wisely, and you’ll be able to cook delicious dishes from them until next spring.

Potatoes should be protected from light to prevent them from turning green during storage.

If you don’t have a cellar or basement, don’t despair.
