My experiment involved using activated charcoal. I simply added some baking soda and a few charcoal tablets to an empty caviar jar and placed it in the refrigerator. The odors were gone! To avoid this, I placed a few activated charcoal tablets in the trash can and added a little essential oil. The charcoal absorbs odors, and the essential oils impart a pleasant scent to the air.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Freshen the air in your hallway.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Charcoal not only absorbs odors but also diffuses pleasant aromas. Simply add a few charcoal tablets and a few drops of your favorite essential oil to a small container and place it in your hallway. This method also works for toilets and bathrooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fighting sewer odor.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0To get rid of the unpleasant smell from the kitchen drain, I placed a few charcoal tablets in the sink before leaving the house.
