Every year in June I spray this mixture on tomato leaves. I am already looking forward to a flood of beautiful and tasty tomatoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomato spray during flowering can be exactly that small intervention that decides the number of set fruits. If plants flower, but some flowers weaken or fall off, a gentle foliar nutrition can help them handle the most important period of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomatoes in June often look strong and full of energy. They have new leaves, first inflorescences and the grower already sees from what could be a rich harvest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is precisely in this phase that it is not enough to just water and wait. The plant needs good pollination, stable conditions and nutrients that support flowering and fruit set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why tomato spray during flowering makes sense<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During flowering the tomato transfers a lot of energy to the flowers. If it lacks some element or suffers from stress, the flowers can be weak, small and easily fall off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foliar nutrition acts faster than root fertilization. The plant absorbs some nutrients through the leaves and can use them in the period when it needs them most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomato spray, however, is not a replacement for good soil, watering and ventilation. It works best as a support for plants that already have a healthy foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First think about pollination<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tomatoes are self-pollinating, but pollen must be released from the flower. Wind and insects help outside, in a greenhouse or on a protected balcony there is much less movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore gently shake flowering plants. It is enough to tap briefly on the support, string or stem so the inflorescences vibrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is best to do it in the morning when the flowers are dry. Wet flowers after dew or after spray pollinate worse, so plan the order of work well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recipe for gentle June spray<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For the basic solution you need ten liters of water, a sprayer and three components: boric acid, iodine and succinic acid. Everything must be thoroughly dissolved and mixed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add half a teaspoon of boric acid to ten liters of water, approximately one and a half to two grams. Then add three drops of iodine and half a teaspoon of succinic acid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use the solution fresh and do not leave it standing for several days in the sun. With foliar nutrition it is better to prepare only the amount you will use at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boric acid supports flowers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Boron belongs among elements that are important for flowering and fruit formation. With its deficiency the flowers can be weaker and fruit set worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boric acid is therefore used especially during flowering. It helps the plant work better with flowers and supports processes related to the formation of young fruits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not exceed the dose. Boron is useful in small amounts, but with an excessive dose it can damage plants and spots or burns may appear on leaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add iodine only drop by drop<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Iodine is used among gardeners as a supplementary support for plant vitality. In small doses it can help the plant during the period when it grows and flowers intensively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this recipe three drops per ten liters of water are enough. More does not mean better effect, especially with foliar spray that comes directly on green tissues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you grow more sensitive varieties or have plants weakened by heat, first test on one plant. After a day check the leaves and only then spray the whole stand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Succinic acid helps with stress<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Succinic acid is used as a plant stimulant. Growers reach for it with weaker growth, after transplanting or in the period when plants face weather fluctuations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With tomatoes it can support vitality of leaves, flowers and young fruits. It has the greatest sense when the plant is not neglected, but needs gentle encouragement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For ten liters of water use approximately half a teaspoon. If you have powder with lumps, first dissolve it in a small amount of warmer water and then pour into the container.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When to spray tomatoes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The most suitable time is early morning or evening when direct sun does not shine on the plants. The leaves should have time to accept the solution and must not remain wet all night in an unventilated greenhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a hot day postpone the spray. Drops on hot leaves can leave damage and the plant gets unnecessary stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not spray just before rain. If rain washes it off after a few minutes, the effect will be weak and you will have to repeat the whole work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to spray leaves and flowers correctly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Set the sprayer to fine mist. The plants should be evenly moistened, not soaked so the solution flows from them to the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spray especially the upper and lower sides of leaves and the area around inflorescences. Do not water the flowers themselves with a stream so you do not mechanically damage them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a greenhouse ensure mild ventilation after spraying. Too much moisture promotes fungal diseases, especially if the plants are dense and air between them stands still.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How often to use the mixture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With healthy tomatoes one spray at the beginning of strong flowering is usually enough. If plants flower gradually, you can repeat the spray after ten to fourteen days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not use it every day. Foliar nutrition should be support at the right time, not regular soaking of plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If after spraying you see spots, yellowing or leaf curling, skip the next application. The plant is showing you that the dose or conditions were not suitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to watch when mixing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  • Dose boric acid exactly and do not exceed the recommended amount.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Add iodine only drop by drop, not by spoonfuls.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • First completely dissolve all components so they do not clog the sprayer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Do not mix this solution with unknown pesticides or other fertilizers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • First test the spray on a small part of the stand if you are using it for the first time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Without watering and root nutrition it will not work<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Tomato spray during flowering will improve the result only when the plant does not suffer from thirst. Tomatoes need even root watering, not sudden overwatering after a period of drought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Fluctuation of moisture increases the risk of fruit cracking and problems with nutrient uptake. Water rather less often but thoroughly so water penetrates deeper to the roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    During flowering and fruit formation also monitor potassium and calcium. These elements are important for tissue firmness, fruit taste and overall harvest quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Most common mistakes after spraying<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The first mistake is spraying in direct sun. Leaves can be damaged and the plant gets additional stress instead of support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The second mistake is a closed greenhouse after application. Humid and warm air creates excellent conditions for molds, so air must at least flow mildly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The third mistake is the conviction that one spray will solve everything. If flowers fall due to heat, drought, weak pollination or overfertilization with nitrogen, you need to fix these causes too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    June help that can bring more fruits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Tomato spray from boric acid, iodine and succinic acid can support stronger flowers, plant vitality and better fruit set during flowering. It has the greatest benefit when you combine it with gentle shaking of plants, ventilation and regular watering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
