The Main Thing Is to Find the Cause in Time.

Yellowing of the leaves does not always mean that the plant is diseased. Often tomatoes themselves give a signal that they lack moisture, nutrients or are experiencing strong stress. If you react in time, the bushes will continue to actively set fruits.

The most common causes:

Lack of potassium. First the edges of the old leaves turn yellow, and later they dry and curl.

Magnesium deficiency. Yellowness appears between the veins, while the veins themselves still remain green.

Incorrect watering. If the soil either dries out or becomes excessively moist, the roots stop absorbing nutrients normally.

Heat. In strong heat the lower leaves often dry out, especially if the greenhouse is poorly ventilated.

Fungal diseases. If the yellow spots quickly increase, and the leaves are covered with brown or dark areas, you need to act immediately.

What to water the tomatoes with?

For prevention of yellowing a simple wood ash solution works well.

Pour 1 glass of sifted ash with 10 liters of warm water.

Infuse for 12–24 hours, after which strain.

Water at the root with 0.7–1 liter under each adult bush once every 10–14 days.

Such an infusion contains potassium, calcium and microelements that help strengthen the plants and support the healthy colour of the leaves.

And one more important advice: regularly remove the yellowed lower leaves, do not water the tomatoes with cold water and do not allow stagnation of moisture near the roots. Exactly these simple steps most often help avoid serious problems in the second half of summer.

And have you already encountered yellowing of leaves on tomatoes this season?

Do Not Hurry to Pull Out the Bushes — in Most Cases They Can Still Be Saved.
