Even healthy bushes can start losing buds, the leaves become dull, and new shoots grow more slowly. But there is a simple way to support the plants without expensive preparations.

The solution that helps roses survive the heat

One of the best natural feedings in the second half of summer is considered wood ash infusion. It contains potassium, phosphorus, calcium and other microelements that strengthen the bush, stimulate prolonged flowering and help the plant more easily tolerate heat.

It is very simple to prepare:

Pour 1 glass of sifted wood ash with 10 liters of water.

Mix well and leave to infuse for 12–24 hours.

Before use mix the solution once more.

Under each adult bush it is enough to pour approximately 2–3 liters of such infusion. It is better to do this in the evening or early in the morning, when the ground is no longer overheated.

Why this method works

Potassium is responsible for the formation of new buds and the brightness of the flowers. Phosphorus supports the development of the root system, and calcium strengthens the plant tissues. Thanks to this the roses suffer less from heat, remain green longer and continue to delight with flowering even when many other flowers are already losing decorativeness.

Important advice

Before applying the feeding be sure to water the roses with ordinary water. If you pour the infusion onto dry soil, the root system can get unnecessary load, especially on hot days.

Also do not use ash simultaneously with nitrogen fertilizers. Between such feedings it is desirable to make a break of at least several days.

If you feed the roses with such a solution once every 10–14 days, regularly remove faded buds and do not forget about watering, the bushes will remain strong and continue to bloom almost until mid-autumn, if the weather allows.

July heat often becomes a real test for roses.
