Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.<br>In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.<br>In a large bowl, beat the sugar and butter together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and red food coloring.<br>Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.<br>Stir in the vinegar, then quickly divide the batter between the prepared pans.<br>Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
