Preheat the oven<br>Preheat the oven to 175\u00b0C (350\u00b0F). Grease and butter a 9\u00d713-inch baking pan to prevent the cake from sticking.<br><strong>2. Mix the dry ingredients<br><\/strong>Sift all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into a large bowl. Sieving allows you to obtain a smooth, lump-free mixture.<br><strong>3. Add the wet ingredients<br><\/strong>Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder and buttermilk, bringing the mixture to a boil. Remove from the heat and gradually stir in the icing sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. If necessary, add chopped pecans.<br><strong>7. Cake frosting<br><\/strong>Pour the hot icing onto the cooled cake, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
