I stumbled into a sociological experiment not long ago in which a well-dressed woman was left alone on the pavement. Nearly everyone who saw her stopped what they were doing to find out whether her parents were okay and if she needed any help. The same girl was standing there, her clothes dirty and torn. Many others passed her by, yet it seemed as if they were oblivious to her presence. Also, those who did it did it with resentment.
This is the sad truth of the day. “When did this world become a place where self-centered individuals solely care about how other people look?” must be asked in light of this situation. Also, what makes the life of a wealthy person more important than that of a poor one?
We are given optimism that there is still hope when we meet someone along the way who shows us that not everyone has lost the ability to feel sorry for the less fortunate.
On her way to class, Casey Fischer stopped by Dunkin’ Donuts for coffee after seeing a homeless guy collecting spare change on the roadside. He stepped inside, intending to get some food.
The man’s meager earnings of just one dollar were plainly visible to Fisher when she approached. After that, she extended an invitation to sit down with her and even offered to cover the cost of his bagel and coffee.
The guy introduced himself as Chris and informed Fischer that his homelessness was the only explanation for the regular mistreatment he endured.
He admitted that his drug abuse had transformed him into the same guy he loathed. All he ever wanted was to live his life to the fullest, becoming someone of whom his late mother would have been pleased. still couldn’t manage to pull it off.
She thanked Chris for the opportunity to meet, but Fischer had to get back to class, so she had to say goodbye. Instead, he gestured for her to hold on for a second, retrieved a crumpled piece of paper, scribbled something on it, and then handed it to his new acquaintance.
Fischer was surprised when she opened the letter. Little did she know that the homeless guy would be forever changed by her deeds. He was looking forward to this meeting for much more than just catching up over bagels and coffee. Because of this, something changed inside him.
“I wanted to kill myself today.” It was written in a letter. Since you brought it up, I no longer do. Thank you very much, beautiful person.
This lovely girl also deserves our gratitude. In order for this world to go on, you must make the required adjustments.
