I always try to wash off fresh stains immediately using warm water and laundry soap.

Vacuuming helps clean the carpet and remove dust. However, a more thorough cleaning is still required at least once every six months.
You can buy various cleaning powders and liquids at household chemical stores. However, home-made and inexpensive remedies also do the job well.
On the advice of a friend, I tried cleaning my rugs with a mixture of powder and ammonia, and was very pleased with the result.
To prepare the solution you will need:
- 1 liter of hot water;
- 1 tablespoon of powder;
- 1 tablespoon of ammonia.
If you are cleaning indoors, you should open the windows and wear a mask, as the smell of ammonia can be quite strong.
However, it quickly dissipates, and for cleanliness, be prepared for this specific smell. It’s best to clean outdoors.

Carpet cleaning is very simple. Just soak a clothes brush in the prepared solution and brush the carpet. All old stains will instantly disappear, and the colors will become brighter and more vibrant.

I cleaned the carpet using circular brushing motions, and the pile lifted and fluffed up. The difference was immediately noticeable, and the ammonia did a great job of removing the stains.

This method is great for very dirty carpets. However, in this case, you may need to replace the solution with a new one.
In my case, one treatment was enough, as my rugs were wrinkled, worn and needed refreshing.

As a result, thanks to using this method, my rugs acquired a new look and began to look fresh and clean.
