Homemade marshmallows – delicate clouds of sweets
Do you want to please your loved ones with a light and airy dessert ? 🥰 Homemade marshmallows are very easy to prepare, and their taste and tenderness will conquer everyone – from toddlers to adult sweet tooths. And most importantly: they are healthier and more affordable than store-bought ones!
Ingredients:
- gelatin – 20 g
- water – 120 ml
- sugar – 440 g
- vanillin – a pinch
- citric acid – a pinch (optional)
- food coloring – optional
- powdered sugar + starch (for sprinkling, 1:1)
Preparation:
- Pour gelatin with cold water and leave for 10 minutes to swell.
- Melt it in a water bath or in the microwave, without bringing it to a boil.
- In a saucepan, mix water and sugar, bring to a boil and cook the syrup for 1 minute.
- Start whipping the gelatin with a mixer and pour in the hot syrup in a thin stream.
- Beat for 7–10 minutes until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, citric acid, and food coloring if desired.
- Pour the mixture into a greased and lined baking pan. Smooth out, cover with cling film and leave to set for a few hours.
- Cut into cubes and roll in a mixture of starch and powder.
