Roses are the decoration of the garden, for which we put so much effort. But even the best care does not protect against the attack of pests. One of the most common enemies is aphid. It feeds on the sap of the plant, deforms the leaves and buds, and weakens the bush.
✨ There is a simple, inexpensive and safe solution – ordinary laundry soap. It effectively fights aphids without any “chemistry”.
Why does soap work?
The soap solution coats the aphid’s body, blocking its breathing. In addition, the film formed makes the leaves unattractive to new attacks.
Soap solution recipe:
- Laundry soap (72%) — 200 g
- Hot water — 10 l
- Grater and bucket
Procedure:
- Rub the soap.
- Transfer to a bucket and fill with water.
- Stir until completely dissolved.
- Cool and the solution is ready to use.
💡 You can add a few drops of essential oil (mint or lavender) – aphids cannot tolerate these smells.
How to apply:
- Spray plants in the morning or evening.
- Pay attention to the back of the leaves.
- Repeat the procedure 2–3 times at intervals of 7–10 days.
- Do not apply before rain or in hot weather.
Additional tips:
- Plant calendula, marigolds, or lavender nearby.
- Attract ladybugs to the garden – they eat aphids.
- In hot weather, you can simply wash away pests with a stream of water.
