To help your peppers develop a bright color, rich flavor, and pleasant aroma more quickly , there are a few proven techniques you can use both outdoors and in a greenhouse.
1. Proper watering and nutritional supplementation
In hot weather or at average temperatures, moisten the bushes twice a week, using 1.5–2 liters of settled warm water for each plant. After watering, be sure to loosen the soil and mulch it with compost to retain moisture.
To accelerate ripening, feed the pepper once every 14 days with complex fertilizers or organic infusions. Spraying with an ash solution gives a wonderful effect – it stimulates fruit ripening.
2. Bush formation and pinching
Remove the first bud as soon as it appears so that the plant directs its energy to the development of shoots and ovaries. Regularly remove weak branches and stepsons, ensuring access of light and air to the fruits. When the pepper has reached its maximum size, cut off a few leaves above the fruits – this way they will color faster.
3. Ripening after harvest
Cut large, but still green or yellowish fruits and leave them to ripen in a dry, well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight. Place ripe vegetables nearby – they release gases that accelerate ripening.
This way you will get juicy, tasty and bright peppers even before the cold weather sets in.
