If you dip strawberries in salt water, parasites will come out of them. It turned out to be true: what came out

Every summer our garden pleases us with a rich harvest of strawberries. This juicy and large berry becomes our favorite treat, and we enjoy it in large portions. It is important to note that we do not use any chemicals when growing it. Our strawberries are a real natural product.

However, it is not always possible to eat only what we have grown ourselves. During our vacation in the south, we wanted to try the local strawberries, which looked simply unbeatable.

Before I started eating berries, I wanted to test the theory that many people are talking about. They say that if you put strawberries in salt water, all the parasites and insects will come out of it. I decided to test this theory myself.

Although I knew about this method for a long time, I never got around to trying it myself.

I poured water into the bowl and added about 4-5 tablespoons of coarse salt just to be 100% sure. I stirred the water until the salt was completely dissolved. Then I took a handful of strawberries and put them in this salt water.

I began to wait and watch, although I doubted that this could give any result and that it might just be a waste of time.

After a few minutes, small spots appeared on the surface of the strawberry. Then their number became more and more.

To be honest, I didn’t feel very good about watching this. Small bugs and parasites began to crawl right out of the berries and move along the surface.

I don’t even know how to describe these insects. They had an elongated body, six legs and a tiny head with antennae. It’s unpleasant to realize that these bugs get into our mouths along with strawberries.

Apparently they didn’t like the salt water. Many of them tried to return back to the berry, but soon reappeared on the surface.

Apples, for example, do not cause such problems. You can immediately see if there is a worm inside. But you wouldn’t know that with strawberries. The beetles are so small that they are almost impossible to notice with the naked eye.

I found 3-4 insects in each berry. That is, if you eat 10 berries, then about 40 bugs will come along with them.

However, there is a plus to this. Berries that have undergone such processing are guaranteed not to have been subjected to chemical treatment and are 100% real natural products.

Later I found out that these bugs are thrips larvae. They are harmless to people, but their presence still causes discomfort.

Now I always put strawberries in a salty solution and rinse them several times before consuming them. This allows you to get rid of possible insects and provides greater confidence in the safety of the berries you eat.
