Rice is an ingredient that is easily available in every kitchen. It improves our dishes in many ways, but it is also the nutrient of choice to make plants bloom faster. Let’s find out how to use rice grains as fertilizer to boost its growth.
When washing rice, do not throw away the water used to wash the rice. This can be an excellent compost for your garden or orchard, providing fertilizers and minerals, and promoting healthy bacterial populations. Therefore, it contributes to the healthy growth of plants.
How to prepare homemade rice fertilizer?

– Add a cup of rice to the bowl.
– Pour five glasses of water.
– Now wait 60 seconds.
– Sift the mixture and collect the liquid.
– Pour this rice liquid over the soil around the plants at least once a week.
– Do not dilute the mixture for a good homemade rice fertilizer.
Methods of using rice in plants
1- As fertilizer for pots
When you water the plant, the rice grains will begin to swell and release starch into the potting soil. Additionally, with each watering, the plant’s soil is flooded with rice nutrients, to do this:

– Sprinkle the rice grains around the stems of the plants in a circle.
– For more effective results, use a spoon to mix the rice with the soil on the surface.
– This way the rice will be absorbed more slowly, giving time for the starch to be released.
2- As a fast-acting fertilizer
This method is recommended for plants that need to recover nutrients quickly. You should use it once a week for 15 days and you will notice a noticeable difference in the growth of your plants.
– Pour half a cup of white rice into a 1.5 liter plastic bottle.
– Fill with tap water until the bottle is full.
– Cover and stir to release the starch, then let sit for half an hour. After this time, a white liquid remains and is an excellent fertilizer for your plants.
– Irrigation Application: Make sure the rice at the bottom is well mixed with the soil to retain moisture.

3- Advantages of this rice method
Fertilizer is usually buried in the soil before planting because compost contains nutrients. This time, the nutrients are in the liquid, which helps infiltration into the soil and therefore promotes absorption by plants.
Plants accept rice water as a source of protein, starch, vitamins and minerals. In addition, it contains vitamins B and E, which strengthen its roots. But to water them, we must take into account how much and how often to water.
It is important to understand that the rice washing water we use must be at room temperature before use. Additionally, it should be noted that this water not only rehydrates the plants, but also acts as a fertilizer.
If we are going to use this liquid in our garden, we have to make sure that it is salt-free. We can use this water once a week or every 20 days.
The advantage of this trick is that it is completely natural and ecological.
