How to prepare scrambled liver with green onion

If you want to prepare this delicious recipe, you will need:

Ingredients

  • liver steaks
  • Garlic cloves
  • Black pepper
  • Onion
  • Vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

  • Grind the garlic cloves and black peppercorns in a molcajete. Add 1 tablespoon of water after grinding them to form a paste. Spread this paste over the liver steaks and season with salt. Lay aside.
  • Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat, then add the onions and sauté very quickly for about 1-2 minutes. Remove and set aside in a bowl.
  • Reduce the heat and add the liver steaks to the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes (depending on the thickness of the liver steaks) until the edges of the underside of the steaks are visible light brown, then turn to cook on the other side for a further 3 minutes.
  • Return the onions to the pan and stir. Continue cooking until the onions are lightly browned. Serve immediately and enjoy! I love adding some serrano peppers to the pan while I cook the onions too. But it’s a personal preference.

Grades

  • Using fresh garlic and peppercorns will provide the perfect onion liver flavor. If you don’t have them on hand or don’t have a molcajete to grind them, use ½ teaspoon garlic powder and ¼ tsp. of ground black pepper.
  • When you cook liver, it’s usually all gone (at least in my house!), but if you ever have leftover liver with onions, you can store it in the refrigerator for later, then you can reheat it. Liver with onions tastes good on a sandwich!
  • In addition to all the benefits of eating liver, it is also a good option for certain diets, such as low-carb diets, the keto diet, and diabetic diets.
