Directions:
- Prepare the meatloaf:
- In a bowl, combine the minced meat, chopped onion, chopped garlic, egg, grated cheese, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, paprika, dried oregano (or thyme) and Worcestershire sauce.
- Knead the minced meat mixture well until all ingredients are well blended.
- Prepare puff pastry:
- Roll out the puff pastry and shape it into a rectangle.
- Meatloaf in puff pastry:
- Spread the minced meat mixture on the puff pastry and form into an oblong loaf.
- Wrapping:
- Wrap the meatloaf in the puff pastry, ensuring it’s completely covered. Press the edges together firmly.
- Bake:
- Place the rolled meatloaf on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
- Whisk the egg and brush the puff pastry with the beaten egg.
- Bake:
- Bake the meatloaf in a preheated oven at 180°C top/bottom heat for about 35-40 minutes, until the puff pastry is golden brown and crispy and the meatloaf is cooked through.
- Serve:
- Slice the cheese meatloaf in puff pastry and serve.
