I grow blueberries at home with a simple method: endless supply and zero expense at the supermarket

Small, delicious and full of beneficial properties, blueberries are a beloved fruit but often expensive to buy regularly. What if I told you that you can grow them at home, even in small spaces, and have an infinite supply all year round ?

For years, thanks to a simple method that everyone can use, I no longer buy blueberries at the supermarket. Here’s how to do it.

Why Grow Blueberries at Home

They are rich in antioxidants , vitamins and fibre

They help blood circulation and vision

Perfect for breakfast, desserts or healthy snacks

The plant is resistant, decorative and does not require complex care.

The simple method I’ve been using for years ✅ 1. Choose the right variety

For home cultivation, prefer American blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum) , ideal for pots and balconies.

✅ 2. Potted plant with acidic soil

Use a pot at least 40 cm deep with acidic soil (pH 4.5 – 5.5) , the same used for azaleas or hydrangeas. You can easily find it in garden centers.

✅ 3. Sun exposure

Place the plant in a sunny place but not too exposed to excessive heat . 5-6 hours of light a day are enough for good fruiting.

✅ 4. Regular watering (but not excessive)

The soil should be kept moist, but well drained . Avoid stagnation that damages the roots.

✅ 5. Targeted fertilization

Use a fertilizer for acid-loving plants, every 20-30 days in spring and early summer.

How to get a continuous supply

After the first harvest, the plant will continue to produce for years .

In autumn, prune it lightly to stimulate production the following season.

If you have space, grow more plants , even on the balcony, to pick blueberries every day in the summer.

Growing blueberries at home is easier than you think.

With a pot, the right soil and a little care, you can enjoy fresh, organic blueberries all year round , right from your balcony or garden. A simple, economical and incredibly satisfying method that made me say goodbye to packaged blueberries for years.
