How to decorate your garden at zero cost: 7 DIY ideas for creative recycling

Have you changed the tires on your car because they were ruined and you don’t know what to do with the  used tires?  Or would you like  to decorate your garden , but would rather avoid filling it with gnomes? You can combine the two,  recycling household objects  and transforming them into decorations for your private green space. This way, your driveway will be the most original in the neighborhood and you won’t have spent anything to embellish it.Creative recycling to decorate the garden

Creative recycling of tires

Car tires are   definitely the best object to recycle. First, clean them thoroughly and then arm yourself with spray paint and color them as you like. After letting them dry, they will be ready to be used in many ways. You can put one on top of the other and place a round pallet on top: here is  your new table .

If you also have some trees, you can tie a wheel around a branch using a rope and get  a swing  for your children (but also for you, actually). And again, if you have a tool shed, a wall or an unattractive entrance that you want to beautify, hang them vertically and use them as  supports for flower pots .

Creative recycling of cork stoppers

You didn’t even realize how many  corks  you threw in the trash every year. A dinner with friends, a family lunch or a romantic evening have caused empty wine bottles to pile up in the glass bin and the corks to go to waste. Yet, they are useful not only for preserving wine.

Use them as  labels  to indicate what you are growing  in pots or in your garden: write the name of the plant with a permanent marker, then fit the cork onto a skewer stick and plant it in the ground. But they can also become  an original decoration for your gazebo . Put one in a row and tie them with string, then add a colored fabric ribbon and you’re done. You can hang them wherever you like.

Creative recycling of fruit crates

Especially if you usually shop at the market or at a small producer who sells fruit and vegetables at retail, you will find yourself with a garage full of  plastic crates .

Considering that plastic is one of the most polluting materials, try to give them a second chance before throwing them in the bin. Remove the longest side of the crate to create an opening. Then pad the bottom and the remaining long side with cushions. You have just obtained  a little armchair ! You can lean it on a wall, if you have one in your garden, or add a couple of tires under the crate, as for the coffee table.

Creative Recycling with Pallets

Pallets  ,  or wooden pallets from workshops and warehouses, are a material often used for  DIY  and craft projects because they are versatile and easy to assemble, like bricks to build new shapes.

The  pallet sofa , in particular, is a very beautiful piece of furniture to look at,  ecological, economical and very comfortable.  It doesn’t matter how used they are: by sanding them, they will become as good as new.

Creative recycling of boots

We could also call them “vase-boots”. If you have some  old leggings , fill them with soil and plant some flowers: they will embellish and color the garden and the courtyard in a rustic and very original way.

Creative Recycling of Cement

If you have some concrete elements left over   from the renovation, decorate them in this way and use them in the garden to keep the plants in an orderly and elegant way.

Creative recycling of water bottles

Old  jugs  (even chipped, cracked or broken ones) can be recycled to become perfect  vases  for plants and flowers, to be placed on windowsills, on the ground or on old external stairs like this one.
