When Brandalyn May Porter shared the image on social media, all people saw were the hands of an elderly woman. That is, until they read Brandalyn’s words, and they saw hands in a completely different light. 

 The image has been shared over 160,000 times  The image and its accompanying caption have been shared over 160,000 times on Facebook.  “I was painting a new client’s nails at work today and when we were picking out colors, she mentioned she wanted clear polish. The only thought that came to my mind was, ‘CLEAR?! That’s boring.’  “I asked her why she wanted clear and she said, ‘My hands are ugly, I don’t want to draw attention to them.’

Then I gently responded, ‘Your hands tell the story of your life. They tell the story of love, caring, and adventure. These hands have touched and held things that most people only dream of.’” And after that, she chose pink for her nails.  “Sometimes what we are so embarrassed about, others find beautiful.” ?
