Sleeping on your left side has an impact on your health you didn’t suspect

We rarely think about our sleeping position… and yet, it says a lot about our well-being! Are you more of a curled-up person, a back sleeper, or a person who changes sides ten times a night? What if you made a simple—but sometimes truly beneficial—change? Sleeping on your left side could become your new favorite routine. Here’s why.

Better digestion, effortlessly

We’ve all experienced that moment when, after a rather heavy dinner, we toss and turn trying to get to sleep. What we often don’t realize is that the position we adopt plays a key role in digestion. By sleeping on your left side, you’re simply following the natural direction of your digestive system!

The stomach, pancreas, and even the colon are mostly located on the left side of the body. As a result, gravity helps food move down smoothly, preventing nighttime discomforts like bloating or acid reflux. A simple,  almost magical trick  ( modified for moderation ) for more peaceful nights after meals!

It is  suggested by some studies  ( modified to avoid exaggerated claim ): sleeping on the left side can relieve the work of the heart. Since the latter is slightly inclined to the left, this position facilitates blood circulation, especially in pregnant women or people prone to heavy legs.

Snoring, this  nocturnal annoyance  ( a softened term ) which disturbs many couples… Sleeping on your back encourages obstruction of the airways, whereas sleeping on your side – especially on the left – clears them more easily.
