A 5-minute snack that used to be prepared in every Soviet family: fast and tasty

I want to share with you a recipe for an old and simple snack that was at the peak of popularity during the Soviet era. When my husband and I first started a family, when visiting his mother, she often treated us to this dish, calling it a “Jewish appetizer.” It’s funny, isn’t it? Jewish appetizer in Soviet cuisine!:)

I wonder if this dish was popular in your family? Sometimes she prepared it only with processed cheese, sometimes she added a boiled egg. It turned out amazing every time. In short, this snack has become part of our family menu: it’s easy to prepare, the ingredients are always on hand, and everyone loves it.

So, the recipe:

Grate the boiled egg on a coarse grater.

Grate the processed cheese on a fine grater.

Recently I started adding hard cheese to the processed cheese – to my taste, this makes the snack even tastier. Choose your favorite cheese and grate it on a fine grater.

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, add chopped garlic and mayonnaise.

I usually don’t add salt, but it depends on your preference. If you want to add some spice, add ground black pepper.

Voila!

An incredibly tasty appetizer is ready to serve and goes perfectly with any dish.
