Gas cylinder, with this trick it lasts 4 months longer: stop wasting money

You probably don’t know the trick to making your gas cylinder last longer. If you want to find out, keep reading and you’ll see how.

Many people have a gas stove, which most often runs on a gas cylinder.  With energy costs rising, the price of gas cylinders has also increased significantly, so you need to be careful to use them sparingly to avoid making your cylinder last too long. It all depends on the size of the tank.

In fact, there are cylinders of different sizes. What we can tell you is that 1 kg of gas is consumed in one hour, so you can calculate based on the size of the cylinder. Of course, we don’t always cook dishes with long preparation times, and we should always make sure the cylinder is full.

To check this, simply look at the temperature. The part containing the gas is colder, while the empty part is at a different temperature. If you don’t find the correct temperature, you’ll need a pressure gauge (they’re inexpensive) to verify that the LPG in the cylinder is the correct type.  However, there’s another reason why you might be wasting gas and why it might not last as long as you’d like.

Gas cylinder: use the lemon method

As we just mentioned, in addition to checking that the gas cylinder is full, you should also make sure your burners are thoroughly clean.  And by cleanliness, we mean not only the hob and grates but also the burners and nozzles, which is essential.

Specifically, these are the components from which the gas is released. After that, the spark ignites the fuel, generating the flame that allows you to cook.  Therefore, if these components are clogged with cooking grease, they won’t function properly and could cause you to waste gas.

Cleaning them isn’t that difficult. First, you need to remove the grates and burners. Some models don’t have nozzles immediately accessible, so you might need a screwdriver to unscrew them for better cleaning.  Once you’ve done that, just grab a lemon.

Take a lemon and cut it in half. Remove the seeds inside and  then pour a few drops into the nozzle  —just one drop, or more if the burner is larger. Leave it for a few minutes, then  take a very thin needle and insert it into the nozzle.

As you can see, the nozzle will now be much clearer, and you can repeat the process. Then, wipe it with a tissue to remove any excess lemon juice when you’re finished. You’ll probably find your tissue dirty, as the lemon also dissolves accumulated grease.

Now you can reassemble everything and check that it’s working properly.  This way, the flame should come out better and be easier to adjust. Now you just have to see if the gas cylinder will last you at least another four months. All you have to do is try to believe it.
