I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at 32: doctors didn’t notice these symptoms

Persistent fatigue, persistent cough, night sweats… All these symptoms can easily be attributed to a severe flu, stress, or allergies. But sometimes the reality is much darker. Taylor Roys, a 32-year-old woman, went through this painful experience. For months, she ignored seemingly insignificant health problems. In reality, it was stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, silently growing.

Confusing symptoms that seemed harmless

Taylor Roys was leading a normal life, despite the significant stress associated with a traumatic event: the loss of her home in a fire. Fatigue, a persistent cough, night sweats? She attributed the cause to her anxiety, her vaping habit, and even seasonal allergies.

Who among us puts off going to the doctor, telling themselves it will “go away”? For Taylor, these symptoms were simply signs of a stressful daily life. Gradually, however, other warning signs began to appear: rapid weight loss, widespread aches and pains, a constant feeling of fatigue. Yet each of these phenomena seemed to have a logical explanation.

Reassuring medical tests… mistakenly

Over the course of several months, Taylor consulted numerous doctors and underwent various blood tests. The results weren’t perfect, but they weren’t cause for concern: iron deficiency, a slightly elevated platelet count, and signs of inflammation. However, all the doctors seemed to downplay the significance of these findings.

Full of optimism about these diagnoses, Taylor continued to live her life as best she could. However, her pain became unbearable, her appetite diminished, and her morale plummeted. At just 32, she saw herself weakening without understanding why.

Late diagnosis with catastrophic consequences

It wasn’t until August 2024, when a large lymph node appeared in his neck, that doctors began to take his symptoms seriously. A biopsy confirmed what he feared: stage four Hodgkin lymphoma. The disease had already spread to his bones, blood, and lungs.

The blow was even harder because Taylor had been through a difficult year, marked by the loss of her home. However, she immediately began intensive therapy: the BrECADD protocol, a recently introduced but extremely powerful chemotherapy. The side effects were terrible: severe pain, nausea, complete exhaustion. Taylor temporarily lost the ability to speak and walk.

The courage to share to warn others

Despite intensive care and constant fatigue, Taylor has decided to speak openly about her illness on social media. On TikTok, she shares her daily life, moments of doubt, but also moments of courage and resilience.

We hope her story helps others pay attention to signs that doctors might miss. “If my story helps even one person spot the symptoms earlier, it won’t have been in vain,” she says with determination.
