What if one of the secrets to your well-being was already hidden in your spice cabinet? Often relegated to stews, bay leaves actually hold many surprises. Behind its familiar aroma lies an ancient tradition that invites us to slow down, take care of ourselves… and establish a relaxing ritual, with all the simplicity.

Bay leaves, much more than just a simple aromatic herb

Bay leaves are   an iconic plant in our kitchens, but also in many family traditions. Used for generations, they are prized for their warming aroma and ability to transform an ordinary dish into a comforting meal. What is less well-known is that they are also often associated with general well-being and balance.

Without claiming it to be a miracle cure, many people like to integrate bay leaves into their daily routine to help them combat periods of tiredness, stress, or simply to take a break during the day.

Why drink a bay leaf infusion?

Preparing a laurel infusion is, above all, a moment of peace. Its delicately woody and comforting aroma naturally invites relaxation. Enjoyed hot, this infusion is often associated with a feeling of digestive well-being, relaxation, and inner calm.

The necessary ingredients

To prepare this simple and natural infusion, you really need very few ingredients:

  • 1 liter of water
  • About 30 g of dried bay leaves
  • Optional: a teaspoon of honey for sweetening.

To fully enjoy their aromas, choose high-quality, well-dried leaves from a reliable source.

  1. First, pour   1 liter of water   into a saucepan and bring it to the boil.
  2. When the water starts to simmer, add the bay leaves.
  3. Leave them to infuse   for 5-10 minutes on low heat  , without heating them too long to preserve their aromas.
  4. Then remove the pot from the heat, cover, and let it rest quietly   for another 5 minutes  . This resting time allows the flavors to fully infuse.
  5. Filter the mixture and pour the infusion into a cup.

You can drink it neat, to fully appreciate its flavor, or add a little honey if you prefer sweeter notes.
