How to apply a creative and practical method to take advantage of resources in home projects.

Transforming old objects into something useful is not only a smart way to save money, but also a great way to care for the environment. In this case, we’ll show you how to convert used tires and recycled materials into a sturdy and functional table for your garden, vegetable patch, or patio . A simple, inexpensive project with a surprising result.

Materials you will need

  • 1 old (clean) tire
  • PVC pipe approximately 10 cm in diameter
  • Heat gun (optional, but recommended)
  • Screws
  • Concrete (mixture of cement, sand and water)
  • Basic tools (saw, shovel, drill)
  • Rigid circular base (can be wood or metal)
  • Tabletop (can be recycled, such as a wheel or flat surface)

Step by step to create your recycled table

1. Prepare the tire

First, thoroughly wash the tire to remove any dirt, grease, or debris. Then, place it where you want to install your table.

2. Create the base on the ground

Trace the outline of the tire on the ground and dig a hole the same size. The idea is for the tire to be firmly embedded in the ground, like a solid base.

3. Prepare the central support

Take the PVC pipe and cut it to a height of approximately 45 to 50 cm. Then, at one end, mark about 15 cm upwards and make vertical cuts to form “legs”.

Using a heat gun, soften the PVC and open those little legs outwards to serve as a support.

4. Create the base of the support

Attach a circular base (about 30 cm in diameter) to the tube’s legs using screws. This will help to firmly anchor the support within the concrete.

5. Place the support and pour the concrete

Place the pipe with its base inside the buried tire. Then, prepare the concrete and pour it inside the tire, ensuring the support is centered.

You can also pour some concrete inside the pipe to reinforce it even more.

6. Create the table surface

For the top, you can reuse a wheel, a thick piece of wood, or any sturdy surface. For added durability, you can fill it with concrete.

7. Assemble the table

Once everything is completely dry, attach the base (tire with the support) to the top. And that’s it! You now have a recycled, sturdy table, perfect for outdoor use.

Why is this invention so useful?

  • You reuse materials that are normally thrown away
  • You save money on outdoor furniture
  • You get a very strong structure
  • It is ideal for vegetable gardens, patios or flower gardens
  • You can customize it to your liking.

Tips and recommendations

  • Make sure the ground is level before placing the tire.
  • Wear gloves and protective gear when cutting PVC or working with tools.
  • Let the concrete dry for at least 24 to 48 hours for greater strength
  • You can paint the tire and the table to improve their appearance
  • If it will be outdoors, use waterproof paint or sealant.
  • Check that the table is properly balanced before using it
