There are plants that seem healthy but are in no hurry to delight with flowers. The leaves are green, the bush is strong, but the buds are few. In most cases the reason is not at all in the variety, but in the lack of nutrients during active flowering.
There is a simple home way to support the geranium so that it lays new buds longer and does not lose strength even at the end of summer.
What to feed the geranium with
For preparing the solution you will need:
- 1 liter of settled water at room temperature;
- 1 gram of dry yeast (or approximately 10 grams of fresh);
- 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Mix the mixture well and leave it to infuse for 2–3 hours in a warm place. After that dilute the obtained concentrate with clean water in the ratio 1:5.
Water the geranium only on slightly moist soil, using approximately 150–200 ml of solution per one medium pot.
Why this works
Yeast activates the beneficial microflora of the soil, thanks to which the roots absorb nutrients better. The plant recovers faster after heat, forms more flower stalks and preserves decorativeness longer.
But it is important to remember: such feeding should not be applied more often than once every 3–4 weeks. Excess can also harm.
What else will help the geranium bloom abundantly
- Regularly remove faded inflorescences.
- Keep the pot in a well-lit place.
- Water only after the top layer of soil has dried.
- Once every few weeks turn the pot with the other side to the sun so that the bush grows evenly.
With proper care the geranium is capable of continuously producing new buds almost until the first cold nights. Sometimes only a little support is enough for the plant to show all its beauty.
