Soak Kitchen Towels in This Solution to Remove All Old Grease

Kitchen towels are the first to take on all the “traces” of daily cooking. Splashes of oil, grease, sauces, tea, coffee — over time the fabric darkens, and after ordinary washing the stains still remain. But there is a simple way that will help return a neat appearance to the towels without expensive products.

What is needed for the solution

For 5 liters of hot water prepare:

  • 2 tablespoons of washing soda (soda ash);
  • 2 tablespoons of oxygen bleach;
  • 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent.

Mix everything well so that the components completely dissolve.

How to soak correctly

Lower the towels into the hot solution so that they are completely immersed in the water. Leave for approximately 2–3 hours. If the fabric is very dirty, you can leave until the water cools completely.

After that lightly wring the towels and wash in the washing machine on the usual cycle.

Why this method works

Washing soda helps dissolve old grease, oxygen bleach fights dark stains, and laundry detergent removes the remains of dirt from the fabric fibers. Together they clean the towels significantly more effectively than ordinary washing.

Useful advice

Do not put off washing kitchen towels for long. If you change them every 2–3 days, the grease will not have time to penetrate deeply into the fabric, and returning cleanliness will be much easier.

And one more secret: after washing dry the towels in the fresh air. Sunlight helps naturally freshen the fabric and reduce residual odors.
