Here’s a super simple butter cake recipe for you:
Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup caster sugar
7 oz unsalted butter (softened)
3 eggs
1.5 tsp vanilla essence
1.25 tsp baking powder
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and line a 20 cm cake tin.
- Beat the butter and sugar together until fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then add vanilla.
- Sift flour and baking powder together.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the butter mixture until just combined.
- Pour batter into the tin and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
