It seems that it is a very special tree that has a deep emotional meaning. Although I don’t know exactly which tree it is, I can still give you a recipe for a traditional Slovak dish that might bring back the memories of this tree and the feelings associated with it:

Bryndzové Halušky (Slovak potato dumplings with sheep cheese)
Ingredients:
500 g potatoes, peeled and grated
200 g Bryndza (Slovak sheep cheese)
150 g bacon, diced
1 onion, finely chopped
200g flour
Salt
butter, for frying
Preparation:
Place the grated potatoes in a clean tea towel and squeeze well to remove excess moisture.
Place the potatoes in a bowl and mix with flour and a pinch of salt to form a dough.
Form the dough into oblong rolls on a floured work surface and cut into pieces about 2 cm long to form the dumplings. The dumplings can be lightly fluted with a fork.
Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil and add the potato dumplings in portions. Cook until they rise to the surface, then remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
Fry the diced bacon in a pan until crispy, then add the chopped onion and fry until translucent.
Add the cooked potato dumplings to the pan and mix well.
Crumble the bryndza over the dumplings and stir until it is melted and evenly distributed over the dumplings.
Season with salt and serve with a little butter.
Bryndzové Halušky are a classic Slovak dish often associated with memories of home and traditions. It is a simple but hearty dish that embodies the taste and culture of Slovakia.
