Ingredients:
2 slices of fluffy bread
Cheese slices
Sandwich ham slices
More cheese for layering (your choice)
1 tablespoon mayonnaise (for one version)
2 eggs
Salt and pepper, to taste
100g mozzarella cheese, shredded
12g butter (for another version)
2/3 teaspoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon honey (optional for the mayonnaise version)
Additional shredded cheese of another type, for topping
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions:
Prep the Toast:
Layer each slice of bread with cheese, then ham, and another layer of cheese.
Use a cup to press down in the center of each slice to create a well for the eggs.
Add the Eggs:
Break an egg into the well in each slice of bread.
Sprinkle a little salt and pepper over each egg.
Carefully break the yolks with a fork.
Add Toppings:
Surround the egg with shredded mozzarella.
If using the garlic butter version, spread butter and minced garlic over the bread and egg.
Optionally, spread some butter on the edges of the bread as well.
Bake:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (355°F).
Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
If the egg is undercooked, reduce the oven to 145-160°C and leave it a little longer.
Add the additional shredded cheese on top a few minutes before finishing baking.
Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle chopped parsley over the baked toast.
Cut into halves for easier eating and transfer to a plate.
Enjoy:
For the mayonnaise version, you can drizzle honey over the toast before eating if desired.
Serve hot, and enjoy the rich flavors of garlic butter or the creamy taste of the mayonnaise version.
