Today I want to share with you a recipe for a delicious sandwich spread. It can be called a salad or an appetizer – after all, in the past in the USSR there was a similar salad, which was also served in different variations: in tartlets, in pita bread or simply on bread. Call it whatever you want, the main thing is that it’s delicious and doesn’t take much time.

Drain the oil from the cod liver, and mash the liver itself with a fork to pieces of visible size. I recommend using whole liver in oil as it has better flavor and allows you to control the size of the pieces.
On a fine grater, grate three hard-boiled eggs and processed cheese. If you are not a fan of processed cheese, you can omit it, but with cheese the spread becomes especially piquant.

Cut the green onions into medium or small pieces and add to the liver, eggs and cheese.
Add a little mayonnaise to combine all the components and add a little salt. Mayonnaise is needed to combine flavors; it should not dominate, but it perfectly complements the overall taste. As an alternative to mayonnaise, you can use cod liver oil, but this will give the dish a different, less vibrant taste.

All that remains is to spread the spread on the bread. One tablespoon of spread is usually used for one piece of bread. It is better to lightly dry the bread or loaf in a frying pan or in the oven to add crispness.
That’s all, hearty and incredibly flavorful sandwiches are ready!
They are ideal for both a holiday table and a quick snack. Try cooking – and you won’t be able to stop.
