Petunias are undoubtedly beautiful, but maintaining their decorative appearance after the first wave of flowering can be a real challenge that requires time and effort. Instead of petunias, you can choose other plants for flower beds and hanging baskets that are easier to care for and bloom continuously until late autumn.

Balsams

These plants are ideal for both flower beds and vertical gardening. Impatiens are decorated with flowers from June until the first frost. These can be simple, semi-double or double flowers of various shades – from white to red. It is not advisable to place balsams in direct sunlight; their ideal place is partial shade.

Begonia everblooming

This plant is often used in urban landscaping as an alternative to petunia. Despite the fact that begonias do not receive proper care in public places, they continue to bloom until frost.

Verbena

Verbena blooms from June to October. The plant thrives in full sun and in hanging baskets. It is important to avoid stagnation of water at the roots, as this can lead to the development of powdery mildew.

Catharanthus

It blooms from July to November, creating dense, rounded bushes strewn with flowers. Catharanthus does not require frequent watering and tolerates heat well.

Calibrachoa

A relative of the petunia, but with smaller and more numerous flowers. Calibrachoa is great for hanging baskets and balcony boxes. The plant cleans itself of faded flowers and prefers a smaller container volume.

Pelargonium ivy-leaved

A perennial plant that can be kept indoors in winter and returned outside in spring. Pelargonium does not require annual seedling preparation.

Ground cover rose

An excellent perennial replacement for petunias for flower beds. Roses of this type are disease resistant and do not require frequent pruning.

Feruleleaf succession (bidens)

Grows well in sunny and semi-shade conditions. The series is resistant to drought and cold, and is almost not susceptible to diseases and pests.

These plants will be an excellent alternative to petunias and will allow you to create colorful and unpretentious flower beds and baskets, pleasing to the eye from spring to late autumn.
